Sunday Brunch at Spice Market, Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, Batu Feringghi

I went for Sunday brunch 3 days back at the Spice Market,  MYR 80++/MYR92.8 nett per pax. I have to say that the quality of food is somehow slightly better than the dinner buffet. Although the spread is only 60% same spread as the dinner’s, 15% maybe are of different fares, and 25% lesser choice, food somehow tasted slightly better compared to my previous 3 visits for weekend buffet dinner. Perhaps brunch is not as busy as dinner and the crowd is more manageable..

And there’s lucky draw too for Sunday brunch..  it says “ Win a weekly prize of Sunday Brunch at Spice Market Café for two persons and the winners will automatically qualify to be in the running for the Monthly Grand Prize (worth MYR 4,000) of two nights' stay in a Premier Room at Rasa Sayang.” But I guess I’m not the lucky one :( Not good with lucky draws :P

Anyways, they still have the all year round buy 1 free 1 promo for International buffet dinner, however only for Mondays and Tuesdays, subjected to availability. I wanted to book for dinner initially but was told it’s full until July. So book early if you have plans. it’s MYR 104++/MYR120.65nett for 2 pax(since it’s buy 1 free 1). And it’s not applicable for eve of public and also public holidays ya.. more info here

Weekend Seafood buffet dinners is at MYR 132++/MYR 153.15nett per pax in which I felt kinda overpriced. E & O offers slightly cheaper/similar price with free flow beer and wine some more.

Coming up, photos time with less talking!

From the Indian food station… quite similar spread, maybe slightly lesser option and I have to say it tasted better than the last visit for dinner…  means lunch and dinner, quality not consistent… the satay, tandoori chicken are just perfect…

P1470440-1

Free flow fruit juices, orange juice, guava juice, apple juice, mango juice…

P1470442-1Japanese station somehow had never really impressed me… the nigiri sushi rice is not hand pressed, rice too soft and sticky, and it’s like being pressed in a block box  and cut into pieces instead… and the sashimi seems pale too..

P1470444-1

Dim sum from the Chinese station was okay… they even have char siu bao (i believe it’s chicken la.. halal mahh) … limited choices but tasted just fine.. the stir fried glass noodle was okay too… scallops are just normal..

P1470448-1

Yabbies and roasted lamb with mint sauce..

P1470452-1

Love my colourful plate… fish fingers are a bit hard, baked oysters are not as fresh (but oh well, I wouldn’t bake it if it’s fresh, cos it’s just gonna be wasted only)… the chicken skewer is nice… others are okay…

P1470455-1   P1470464-1

Oriental Chinese and Thai usually don’t go wrong for Asians’ palate.. except the sesat(lost) jelly fish and mussel…

P1470465-1

Dessert time! Well, if would be so good if they have Haagen Dazs like in Park Royal or Baskin in E & O… since the price charged is considered premium and comparatively quite similar with the other 2 mentioned. :P

P1470468-1

Selection of cakes are okay.. I couldn’t go for more as I was pretty stuffed.. just couldn’t find my tiramisu… This is the cheese cake…

P1470469-1Chocolate mud cake…

P1470472-1

More ice cream with walnut and chocolate topping..

P1470459-1

Cotton candy floss..

P1470462-1

Some fruits…

And finally, a short stroll on some of the stations…P1470478-1P1470475-1 P1470476-1  P1470480-1 P1470482-1 P1470483-1 P1470485-1 P1470488-1 P1470489-1 P1470491-1 P1470492-1  P1470496-1 And off we go… with happy tummy, slight guilt due to over indulgence…

P1470499-1 And my balloon flower. There’s this one clown entertaining patrons from table to table… Her name is Creampuff… cute, cheeky and yet entertaining… and she goes to every table, be it there’s children or not, happily making balloon animals, flowers and stuffs…
