Lunch-ing at Red Chopsticks, I Avenue

Finally, new place for lunch... wahahaha... at least something newer than zhap fan la, pan mee la, Jln Tengah la, Bukit Gedong la, snake temple la, Queensbay la...at least now another choice to have lunch... seriously need to prepare a draw lot box... put all the lunching place and draw when each of us cannot decide what to eat.... I shall do it once I'm done with this post... oiseh.. so semangat... anyway....

This time we went Red Kitchen... located at I-Avenue... must go earlier if you want to find good parking spots.. cos it's a pretty strategic place where there are Maybank, Hong Leong Bank & Scotia Bank. JPJ is also there.. quite a lot of eateries too....

Walk pass this place a lot of times but never actually went in and try.. The food menu is super thick.. and laminated very thickly as well each and every page.. lots of variety as well.. environment wise not bad.. the place is squeaky clean...the tables all nicely wiped clean... So me as usual, if my camera is in my bag, I shall then utilize it.. so I can share with everyone also mah... haha... word of mouth people call it... (habis la if that one place I go serve bad food and with bad service)... muahahaha..

11 They don't call if Red Chopsticks for nothing... look at the chopsticks used... not bad interior.. easterny influenced...

10 Look at the reflective tables.. kekeke... and oh ya.. I'm not sure if that's the boss or what... this lady who came and take our order is really soft spoken... suddenly I feel like I'm so super ganas like that...

12 Tau Iu Bak Th'ng Set (Pork in Soya Sauce Soup with braised hard boiled eggs) It tastes not bad... just maybe the spices used are pretty strong smelling... very thrifty when it comes to the sambal.. kekeke

13 That's fat fat cendol... and if you look at the 2 glasses of drinks below... you must be thinking.. that must be orange juice... wrong.. you are so wrong.... it's ice lemon tea... drinkable but i'll try other drink next time... it's either powder type or cordial type... I prefer original ice lemon tea..

14 Sweet & sour fish rice.... you get to choose sweet and sour normal or spicy sweet and sour.. presentation not bad, portion quite big, taste not bad also...

15 Urm.. this is chicken Spicy Sweet & Sour rice.. with egg... looks not much difference from the fish one I know.. haha.. got got.. the mint leaves are different in size.. and it has one egg there.. :P

Overall, I would say that we will return for either lunch or dinner again...looking at all the aspects, service, presentation, taste, location, price... it's all above average, can say good la... Cost around RM11 per pax... well.. if you eat this everyday, will bankrupt la... but once in a while once you're bored with zhap fan and other hawker fares, and it's a super hot sunny day, you can consider going to Red Chopsticks.. they have airconds... muahahaha..

Yee Au's 26th Birthday @ Bailey's 19th Feb 08

Au had celebrated his birthday earlier this year, on 16th Feb 08 night and invited Lb and myself but both of us could not make it as I was back in hometown and LB went to Cameron. So we decided to celebrate with him on the actual day... treating him for some drinks and dinner at his favourite hangout.. Bailey's at Krystal Point I. Au was my housemate during the college years.. Have been friends for 6 years!!! Cheers to you bro! Hope you enjoyed your time with us...

Took some photos of birthday boy and basically everything... haha...

7

That's my Screwdriver, Au's Tiger, the manager at the bar on the below left, he speaks good hokkien, mind you... and the view from my place....

8

In Baileys, you can order food from few restaurants nearby.. they have all the menu ready.. you can just order, and they will have the order sent to the particular restaurant...some of the restaurants I know are Eighteen (that's where our pizza are from... RM 28 for a large pizza and free one small one for you.... the small is like in between the size of personal pan and regular pan or pizza hut...), Mumbai house next door, Japanese Restaurant next door.. forgot the name.. and El Mondo... the Italian restaurant place... the restaurants will send your order, you can choose to pay directly to them, or to have the bill added in to your Bailey's bill.. not bad right...In Bailey's itself also have their own food menu from their own kitchen... but we just ordered some snacks... calamari rings and chicken wings.. and I have to say the chicken wings taste really really good... I can't remember the price though.. Bill for the drinks and food order from Bailey's came up RM80 plus.. few beers, my cocktail and the snacks.. pretty standard I guess...

9

That's birthday boy and his cake... Happy Birthday Au... hope you had a great one... wish you all happy and wonderful always...

Dinner @ Passions of Kerala / Innira's and chit chat outing 18th Feb 08

Well, initially we wanted to go Kek Lok Si for photo taking frenzy since they gonna take all the pretty lights off after Chap Goh Meh. But all of us were too tired and lazy after work, we changed plan to just go for dinner and chit chat. Thinking of what's for dinner is another headache... in fact, going out for lunch everyday is a headache... :P everyone can't decide where to eat... We went to fetch Ah Goh, and suddenly thought of the banana leave place nearby... we had dinner there once, 2 years back... here Those were the times... there were 4 of us... But now En is in the States... I hope you're missing us there girl...

The name of the place is Passions of Kerala... It's somewhere Gelugor/Minden/Tmn Brown area.. haha... Price wise, pretty okay.. but I think you can get cheaper ones at Little India area...

It comes with basic set, plain rice and 4 side vegetarian dish with papedems, refillable, served on banana leaves. The sides I think they change everyday.. everytime go also different sides... the extra order dishes.. we ordered the same what we previously ordered.. chicken masala, deep fried squid and deep friend ladies fingers... and orange lassi.. it was thick enough that we keep on adding ice... but unfortunately one orange lassi was not enough.. we need ice water.. it's like more spicy than the other times i went to eat there... spicy until we can close out mouth.. sweat rolling down out our foreheads... sniffing back the-flowing-you-know-what that's escaping from our nostrils... very near to teary eyes... muahahah.. but it was yummy... bill came RM 42 for 3 pax..

1

LB went to Cameron over that weekend, and came back with strawberries and cherry tomatoes..

2

3

We finished dinner pretty late... last customer to leave... so decided to go over Goh's place to just chit chat.... sat at the poolside and since there's no one, we had cam whoring session since did not manage to go to Kek Lok Si this year.. It's a nice place there and good thing it's windy too.. we ended up jumping in the pool also.. well.. of course only to the level of our knees la... Looking forward for the next outing... hopefully with more people....

33 34

35

38

Our next stop was Memek's but did not take any photos cos too tired... hehe.. 1/2 time... driving from SP north to SP south that time was a challenge.. I think due to Le Tour De Langkawi... it was jammed all the way... there were 3 of our cars.. in the end.. each took different route... The first one left arrive last and the last one left (me) reached first! yay... haha.. Amazing Race Sungai Petani.. i fetched Goh but both of us have to wait as Memek was in the second car driven by Ai Ling.. keke.. itu kek gau gau punya, use all the short cut in the end also sampai last... muahahaha

It's called True Light Vision Centre... they have around 40 orphans there... majority were indians and around 10% of chinese. It is run by an Indian couple and they are depending on public donation to raise and support these children....

49

50

5th DAY CNY 2008

I basically slack at home since I took leave from work.. helped mom with house chores and took losta photos of the flowers in my mom's garden and of course, my pet dogs Rover and Jacky.. will post the photos soon...

6th DAY CNY 2008

Back to work... well.. the feeling is like jet lag.. bwahahaha.. somehow just feeling tired, like not enough sleep and basically still in festive mood and don't even want to go back to work... but my manager gave me some good news that day... keke... will talk more about that in another post.. this is my CNY post.. not my work post :P

51 After work, we went to Aaron's, had pizza dinner and Jo brought her family "jewel" dish.. It's a traditional Hakka dish.. and mind you.. it's not cheap stuffs... but not everyone knows how to appreciate the stuffed meat balls. It's made of minced meat combined with water chestnut, i think there's mushrooms pieces and some other ingredients and in the middle stuffed with huge dried oyster and "fatt choy". This meatballs then deep friend and then steamed to preserve the taste in the meatballs.. Authentic hakka CNY dish.. keke...

7th Day CNY 2008

Basically just had dinner at sushi king... since there's a long queue at Sakae's.

52

8th DAY CNY 2008

We have some situation in the office over some small matter.. sigh... things has not been the same since... you guys should learnt to hold your horses sometimes... peace!

So... it's Valentine's day and also Pai Thi Kong Day that midnight... it's the official CNY for the Hokkiens... where most of the people know... Sugar cane is essential! everyone was rushing back after work to celebrate Valentine's day... myself.. rushing home to pack my stuffs, get my Cody boy and head home.. balik kampung.. balik SP... took leave the next day.. tat's y so semanagat mau balik....

53 My parents and my sis was at home already... they so semangat... they made all the "kuih-s'. My dad's ang koo was not successful, but his mi koo and huat kuih was yummy... Mom made Bee Koh and sweet potato orange kuih which was yummy too.. my sis made the layered kuih with corn kernels..

54

Offerings to Pai Thi Kong are generally sweet food and red in colour...At home, it was done moderately... I remembered when my grandma was still around, we would balik kampung to my dad's home in Kepala Batas and the offerings are usually huge... 2 to 3 roasted pigs... and 2 to 3 huge dragon incense sticks...

9th DAY CNY 2008

I basically slack at home and went to do my banking and finances.. paying debts :P hahaha.. the drop by Central Square.. one of SP longest surviving mall... and they had pretty deco too although it's just a small mall where me and my friends use to go when we were still schooling... those were the days...

55

10th DAY CNY 2008

Since the roasted chicken from Pai Thi Kong was untouched, I decided to cook chicken rice that day... glazed the chicken with some sauce and honey, chuck it into the oven and it comes out beautifully shinny and crispy skin... then the the boiled eggs, i cooked sambal eggs, and lettuce.. afraid that my bro won't eat the sambal eggs due to the spiciness, cooked some extra honey chicken cocktails and taiwanese sausages... it has been a while since I last cook... keke

56
