Be warned... super lots of photos in this post.. :P
Chinese New Year this year is definitely better than last year... as least for me.. I was working second day of CNY last year and left me so depressed somehow... so I vowed to myself, never to work for the first 2 days of CNY.. worst come to worst la.. if can get extra holiday lagi bagus...
This year CNY timing was pretty good... at least everyone gets off till 4th day of CNY and starts at 5th day without taking any leaves.... Next year CNY starts on the 26th Jan (Monday), so everyone gets to go home early for the celebration... but starts work on the 3rd day... bahhhh...
Anyway, taken loads of photos... and as usual, I love to let the photos do the talking.. so I don't have to think so much :P
Here goes...................

Mom made this curtain specially for the CNY... after Chap Goh Meh, she'l remove it.. some kind of feng shui thingy.. hehe...

and again...more CNY deco.....
CNY cookies...some of if were given by my dad's staff... some home made.. my sis made them cos i don't have time to help... have to work till CNY eve leh.. next year can la :P ... our signature cornflakes cookies... simply the best leh.. muahaha.. best in SP (Sungai Petani) and KB (Kepala Batas).. some say penang too.. wakakaka....

2nd DAY CNY 2008
2nd day CNY location this year is my 6th aunt's new home in BM... well.. her old home is just less than 100 metres away... last year was my home in SP.. 2nd day CNY is official day for the family gathering on my mom's side... each year, one of their siblings will play host for CNY celebration... my mom has 11 siblings including herself... it's like a tradition even before my granny past away and still going strong until today...
Yummy food cooked by various people.. majority by my aunt (2nd uncle's wife).. some by 6th aunt and my sis made the Gung pow chicken with cashew nuts... we don't eat expensive stuff during CNY somehow.. kekeke... maybe because the family size is huge...
Aidan boy... not sure if i spelt his name correctly.. he is the lastest addition to the family... my 2nd aunt's grandson.. my cousin bro's son... considered my nephew... ain't he the cutest boy.... beh tahan... and that's his pretty mommy... she works for MAS Airlines... not sure if she still fly around the globe.. or maybe already considering becoming full time mommy to baby Aidan and his older sister Angeline...
That's Aidan's daddy.. my cousin bro...
That's my cousins... well... few of them...
More photos with my siblings and cousins... well.. this is only half of us... I love my big family....

3rd DAY CNY 2008
3rd day is usually our "pai ni" day (visiting friends and cam whore) muahaha... it would be nice looking back thru the photos taken today, 20 years from now with your friends... refreshes great memories and fun we had together...
First stop was LB's house... Only 5 of us this year.. sigh.. 1/2 of the gang is at overseas... girls.. can't wait for the next big gathering...
Then went for some drinks at Old Town cafe in Lagenda Heights.. call myself a Sp-ian /Sp-ier, this is my first time setting foot here.. very sampat like that... i don't really know sp nowadays... somehow more familiar with Penang.. cos I stay here more.. and even I go back SP, I prefer to stay home... and of course, during yum cha session, cam whoring will never ever stop.. :p
Our next stop was Memek's but did not take any photos cos too tired... hehe.. 1/2 time... driving from SP north to SP south that time was a challenge.. I think due to Le Tour De Langkawi... it was jammed all the way... there were 3 of our cars.. in the end.. each took different route... The first one left arrive last and the last one left (me) reached first! yay... haha.. Amazing Race Sungai Petani.. i fetched Goh but both of us have to wait as Memek was in the second car driven by Ai Ling.. keke.. itu kek gau gau punya, use all the short cut in the end also sampai last... muahahaha
Then we headed to Ai Ling's, back to my housing estate.. took lotsa photos here too...
Here's AJ the collie... handsome hor...
That's us and Prissy girl with her mommy, Ai Ling...
Her dad's huge 6 feet pond full with gigantic japanese carps... and when I say gigantic.. I really mean it.. they are the size of your calf... or your arm at least....
Mini lotus plant....
Us again... Hu Nee arrived after a while...
That's Brownie, Ai Ling's next door uncle's Golden Retriever.. Don't be fooled by the innocent face.. he is super ham sup... loves to hump ppl's leg... naughty Brownie!
4th DAY CNY 2008
Went for breakfast at Lagenda Height... Dim Sum breakfast... food was okay.. the noodles not very nice only... spicy semacam only...
And of course, photo session before we leave for Tesco... went grocery shopping... cos the next agenda was visiting one of the so called orphanage near to Jubli Perak Garden.... It's called True Light Vision Centre... they have around 40 orphans there... majority were indians and around 10% of chinese. It is run by an Indian couple and they are depending on public donation to raise and support these children....
5th DAY CNY 2008
I basically slack at home since I took leave from work.. helped mom with house chores and took losta photos of the flowers in my mom's garden and of course, my pet dogs Rover and Jacky.. will post the photos soon...
6th DAY CNY 2008
Back to work... well.. the feeling is like jet lag.. bwahahaha.. somehow just feeling tired, like not enough sleep and basically still in festive mood and don't even want to go back to work... but my manager gave me some good news that day... keke... will talk more about that in another post.. this is my CNY post.. not my work post :P
After work, we went to Aaron's, had pizza dinner and Jo brought her family "jewel" dish.. It's a traditional Hakka dish.. and mind you.. it's not cheap stuffs... but not everyone knows how to appreciate the stuffed meat balls. It's made of minced meat combined with water chestnut, i think there's mushrooms pieces and some other ingredients and in the middle stuffed with huge dried oyster and "fatt choy". This meatballs then deep friend and then steamed to preserve the taste in the meatballs.. Authentic hakka CNY dish.. keke...
7th Day CNY 2008
Basically just had dinner at sushi king... since there's a long queue at Sakae's.
8th DAY CNY 2008
We have some situation in the office over some small matter.. sigh... things has not been the same since... you guys should learnt to hold your horses sometimes... peace!
So... it's Valentine's day and also Pai Thi Kong Day that midnight... it's the official CNY for the Hokkiens... where most of the people know... Sugar cane is essential! everyone was rushing back after work to celebrate Valentine's day... myself.. rushing home to pack my stuffs, get my Cody boy and head home.. balik kampung.. balik SP... took leave the next day.. tat's y so semanagat mau balik....
My parents and my sis was at home already... they so semangat... they made all the "kuih-s'. My dad's ang koo was not successful, but his mi koo and huat kuih was yummy... Mom made Bee Koh and sweet potato orange kuih which was yummy too.. my sis made the layered kuih with corn kernels..
Offerings to Pai Thi Kong are generally sweet food and red in colour...At home, it was done moderately... I remembered when my grandma was still around, we would balik kampung to my dad's home in Kepala Batas and the offerings are usually huge... 2 to 3 roasted pigs... and 2 to 3 huge dragon incense sticks...
9th DAY CNY 2008
I basically slack at home and went to do my banking and finances.. paying debts :P hahaha.. the drop by Central Square.. one of SP longest surviving mall... and they had pretty deco too although it's just a small mall where me and my friends use to go when we were still schooling... those were the days...
10th DAY CNY 2008
Since the roasted chicken from Pai Thi Kong was untouched, I decided to cook chicken rice that day... glazed the chicken with some sauce and honey, chuck it into the oven and it comes out beautifully shinny and crispy skin... then the the boiled eggs, i cooked sambal eggs, and lettuce.. afraid that my bro won't eat the sambal eggs due to the spiciness, cooked some extra honey chicken cocktails and taiwanese sausages... it has been a while since I last cook... keke
