Winter Warmers Coffee & Tea House, Gurney Plaza

Wanting to find a place to just sit and relax, so walked along the whole stretch of gurney walk and decided to walk in Winter Warmers when it’s one of the full house outlets. Does not look like recession to me… haha.. anyways, just to have something different instead of coffee or liqour/alcohol, and instead of somewhere noisy, we decided to just grab a seat and get ourselves a drink each.. The menu selections are wide, from normal light sandwiches and toasts to pastas and local fare like nasi lemak.. drinks selection also very wide… we actually took a very long time to decide what to have… Winter Warmers also offer cheesecakes and other pastries too…

Winter Warmers’ interior has always been same, english cottage style, with floral teapots and teacups, Laura Ashley kind wall paper..

One thing though… the one in Gurney is not actually very well maintained… there are torn wallpaper, the wall paper gets uneven and the table cloth are really stained… I’m not sure if this is done on purpose to have like old english cottage that belongs to a very old granny kinda feel, or they decided not to invest on new table cloths…. sigh…

This time it’s not me… my friend decided she wanted to have scones… haha… late evening… Penangites, or perhaps applied to most Malaysians too, when it comes to eating, memang no law.. we eat whatever, at anytime we want… eat dim sum at night, nasi kandar for breakfast, roti canai all day long and scones for supper.

Banana flavoured scones accompanied by strawberry jam, butter and whipped cream with some slices of fruits.. MYR5.00

Iced fruit mixed cocktail MYR9.90. Basically like tropical fruit cordial mix with slices of apples, orange and lime… I don remember it tastes that way when I ordered this urm.. a couple of years back… or more.. haha.. I would prefer it to be fresh juice of orange with lemon or lime juice added… and at least it’s not too sweet like the cordial mix…

My friend’s Peach Milk Tea MYR8.90 which she adores… a lot.. she’s even considering another pot… since there is not refill available… but the peach aroma.. yum… In the menu is states that there’s fresh peach slices but was no where to be found though… I told her to just go buy one bottle of peach tea, heat it up and pour in the milk and she’ll have peach milk tea…. of course she just rolled her eyes at me as usual.. :P
