If you are working at Bayan Lepas area, Mak Long will be familiar if you savour Malay food once in a while… Sometimes when have sudden crave for Malay food, Mak Long will definitely cross your mind, and the sambal belacan :D
Mak Long is situated near the airport and is usually full with patrons, mostly those working at the nearby offices and factories… you’ll be surprise to see that half or more are Chinese customers too… These are the people who appreciate Malay “kampung” cooking…
It’s a small restaurant with zinc roofing with tables all lined up properly.. so on hot sunny days, it could be unbearable to be there for long…
Variety of dishes, from chicken, meat, mutton, fish, some seafood selections, curries, vegetables and fresh leafy greens like the ulam leaves, 4 angled beans, ladies fingers and others to go with the sambal belacan.. it would be best to go right on time at 12:00 or 11:30am when the dishes are still freshly cooked and selections are still available… this is because the dishes here clear off very fast due to the large crowd of in out patrons…
Huge bowl of sambal belacan and air asam, so yummy..
The rice corner, with a huge pot filled with white rice, and kept warm with charcoal underneath… the pot was not there when i took this photo cause they took it for a refill
Motorola folks… :D this time the crowd start to clear off a little… on peak hours like 12:00noon, it can be full house and you would need to wait for a seat or take any available seat next to a stranger…
Rice with sambal fried ladies fingers, mango kerabu and ayam masak kicap (chicken in soya sauce with a hint of spiciness), can’t remember how much but with a drink, it’s around MYR5.00. Pretty affordable and food is good, so you are to leave this place with a sense of satisfaction to the tummy :D
