Rizal Nasi Goreng Ayam, Hillside (Jalan Sungai Kelian), Penang

I was first introduced to this Hillside’s medan selera/astaka by my boyfriend many years back, he was then working in PSC and this is one of his late night supper place with his colleagues. This medan selera has got 2 different sections, chinese food and malay food. This is one of the stalls that sells nasi ayam (chicken rice), which offers normal nasi ayam and also the nasi goreng ayam.

Nasi Goreng Ayam @ MYR 4.50,which is a plain fried rice, with chopped roasted chicken plus the soy sauce, accompanied by bean sprouts and cucumber. Came along is a small bowl of plain soup.

P1480435-2

Fried rice was just normal, nothing to shout about, slightly wetter, does not have the “wok hei'” (flavour you get when you cook with high heat) with some vegetables.

P1480436-1

Roasted chicken, comparing the Chinese chicken rice is, it’s not that smooth, succulent and tender. Nevertheless, it’s actually not bad.. flavour is there and most importantly, chicken tasted fresh… I’m very particular with meat that makes me want to become a vegetarian… in which I meant, not fresh and not properly cooked… The roasted chicken was served separately on a smaller place on a bed of bean sprouts, some cucumbers and topped with the chicken rice soy sauce and the chili sauce too.

P1480441-1

Plain chicken/beef stock/soup with fried garlic and chopped spring onions..

P1480447-1  I like my food served in one plate :P

P1480452-1

The chicken rice stall..

P1480454-1

And I just noticed that the chicken rice is actually slightly more expensive that a regular Chinese chicken rice..
