This little lorry is a familiar sight to those residing Tanjung Tokong & Bungah onwards heading Batu Feringghi. Uncle burger, as most called it… Uncle’s name is Wong… has been operating for many many years… it’s not the regular road side burger stall.. and there’s not many Chinese burger stalls I’ve known off.. another one I notice is the one along Weld Quay at night.
The little lorry is parked that this very lot for business every time… He will start his business around 6 something to 7pm till late.
Available menu….Chicken burger is cheaper than beef , but chicken sausage is more expensive that the beef… Choose your combinations and place the order..
Uncle’s specialty is actually the fried onions (look at the pile there)… kinda like caramelized onions…and he’s usually just busy whole night making burgers…
And he will stir the eggs mixture in a cup before pouring it on the pan… unlike those usual burger stalls’s “stunts”, they break the egg and to the spiral movement to cook the egg… once the eggs is cooked, uncle will put in the onions, the cooked burger, (cheese if requested) and wrap it with the egg… he works really fast…
Uncle has got his family members around sitting there sometimes, and I think this is her daughter, helping him with the wrapping and the other preps..
Located just right opposite road of Esso gas/petrol station…
Burger wrapped in the normal serviettes kind of paper with a layer of plastic, unlike those mostly use, the special burger/kebab paper…
Tadaa…. one thing with uncle burger is it’s not messy, cos they don’t overdose on the sauce.. well, unless some prefers wetter burger with lots of sauce… so this burger is actually neater in a way, no sauce dripping all over, you can even use a knife to cut it into half and it will not fall apart… so it can be a little dry sometimes…
Biting into the burger… and this is what you can see.. the burger wrapped in egg with onions and sandwiches in between toasted burger buns!
Halfway eating, I did a post mortem, open the burger up and see what’s inside… :D no messy and dripping sauce, only burger, some cucumber and tomato slice, minimal of chili sauce and the onions…
