DHL Express Annual Dinner - 2009

On this date, last month, so coincidently, same day as well, I was in KL attending company's dinner.... took leave a day earlier since we're tagging Alex's car and just to get away from work for a day :D

Left Penang on 13th Feb, Friday morning, and slow drive to KL.... checked in Cititel with one reason... convenience... shopping, dining and everything is there :D

Arrived KL around lunch time, checked in and headed over to Chopstick Noodle House to fill the hungry tummy.... it's a Hongkie style cha chan teng... serving of course Hong Kong specialties... not very impressed with the food, just thought it's just average and a bit oily.. presentation was not bad though..

After lunch, we all parted ways, the guys go do their own shopping, and we the girls go do ours... but i caught a flu bug on the way to KL :( sneezing non-stop with strong signal of flu attacking and blocked nose at night... MK was not up to the weather as well.. haha... so we practically just did some window shopping, and headed back to the hotel in the evening...

Out again for coffee... urm.. we had tea actually.. green tea frap and green tea soy.... scared kenot sleep also... and a piece of cheese cake... :D before that.. cam whoring in hotel lift and lobby somemore :P tsk tsk tsk....

also in front of the hotel entrance :P wuakakakaka... we went to get fresh air la... then off to bed.. and i woke up at 6 with stuffed nose... sheesh... i was practically breathing thru my mouth... my throat so dry :(
Then continue sleep for a while before waking up, bathe and head to Killiney for breakfast... they serve typical malaysian breakfast like nasi lemak, soft boil eggs, nyonya kuih, cuffy puffs and stuffs with heavier price tag compare with the one at the road side stalls la :P

Before check out, while MK was busy on the phone and we waiting for her, we again took photos.. hahaha...

Checked out and dumped out luggages in the car, and went for lunch, at The Gardens. Went to Fong Lye since we heard it was good... taiwanese cuisine.

Well, food was not bad.. but the cold noodles we ordered, we didn't like it... ambiance was good... and it was pretty packed, and still have customers queueing up for their tables...
Then off we go, to our "all time favourite" hotel.... I've stayed there 3 times... first time was 2007 Annual Dinner, 3rd Nov 07 one night... 2 weeks for induction in June 08, and this time Annual Dinner 2009. we've heard a lot of stories bout this place but so far, choi choi, touch wood, I have never encounter anything.. and I don't want also in future :P aih.. getting the news that the hotel is gonna be Armada again.. aih... sad oso initially... haha... cos the dinner is in KLCC... but the convenient thing is LRT station is just a walking distance... tat's y DHL suka let us stay Armada.. so we can LRT conveniently to TM. anyways, the hotel was okay la the last time i stayed there.. just that the stained carpet and the stories we heard.. hahaha... checked in and got my key... well.. diff floor with Branda & MK and many others.. in fact I don even know who stayed at the same floor. I got 18th floor.. pretty high adi... when the lift door opened, i walked out to a pleasantly scented walkway... noticed some difference on the room doors and the carpet is all new.... knock knock on the door, slot in the card and opened the door and saw....... jeng jeng jeng... this!!!!!

Newly furbished room with new carpet... so new that i took off my shoes n walk on it... (i would not do it on the previous stay.. :P) the bed is newly designed with nice touch of lighting from the back (oh yea.. i got a king size bed room, initially i have a roommate but she told me she's not coming back... haha.. good news for me cos I have the freaking nice new room for my own~! yay yay yay), it has a new build-in writting desk with a huge LCD tv.. or was it plasma... hmm.. haha.. the room is so spacious i can have party in there.. with a 2 seather couch n coffee table.. and they gave me 4 fluffy duck feather pillows too.. without even me asking for it... i told myself.. this is so so much better than cititel..... :P previously, it was vice versa.. i would ask, why din let us stay cititel instead??? only the bathroom was unchanged, but it's still huge and a spacious one.. this room has got pretty much the same layout with the room i had during induction... only mirrored... it was at the other end i suppose....

nice leh.... and it's affordable... haha... can consider Armada for now since it's newly furbished :P some colleagues who got lower floors, got the old rooms.. i think they start refurbishing from top floors... the ones who got top floor rooms are lucky people :D muahahaha... the ones with roommate din come back and get the whole room for her/himself, is the luckiest... like me :P if only we get to stay longer... kekeke..

view from my room... if you can see, that's the Asia Jaya LRT station, 5 minutes walk from Armada...
rolled whole afternoon on the bed n watch tv... hahaha... then off to dinner.. Theva or more known as Kumar in TM, haha.. is nice enough to give us a lift to KLCC :D and here comes a long stretch of photos taken that night... not gonna say much... they are all my colleagues... haha.. habis cerita...

Magnificent Petronas Twin Tower can be viewed from the convention centre...

my ticket and table setting

I don remember eating these.. haha... i got these photos from my colleague... i ate like 1st course, 2nd, 3rd and i think that was it... haha... the food, i have to say.. was not good.... although i only tried 3 course... i think i has some of the rice... but many agreed with me.. the food was not at all impressive... the service however was good, they change your plate after every course, pouring water to your glass and tea to your cups after you have a sip or two... serve you directly to your plate, and if you're not at the table like me, i move around looking for my friends and i came back to see few small plates with food at my place... and with the flu, i had beer although i have not drink beer for years already... since my last annual dinner with HSBC.. haha.. and that was 20o4!! but the tiger indeed had helped to ease the flu a lil... but this time, is tasted a pretty mild... just nice for my liking...

Colleagues, colleagues and more colleagues of different levels, positions and departments..

Northern team... Penang leading :P

Finally... pop quiz.. count how many heads u see in all the photos above :P hahaha.. they are all my colleagues, managers, all my friends in DHL Express... :D Left KLCC for supper and head back to the hotel n continue watch tv until pass out... pretty early... early in the morning... took my meds then kenot tahan d.. i think around 4 something... then have to wake up the next day for breakfast with SMTs... i seriously had a very hard time dragging my ass off that bed... i would love to continue sleep... but have to go show face oso la.. haha... after breakfast only balik room with intention wanna sleep back.. but have to pack...aih.. so pack d just rolled on the bed and watch tv again... until 12:00 noon, check out and head back to Penang. Boss cancelled Ikea plan.. which was good oso... cos darn tired d... haha... masuk kereta not long only pengsan a while until reach Bidor... makan lunch at the famous tok tok mee a.k.a wanton noodles... and other savouries like Wu Kok, yam something... haha... cannot recall suddenly... it's like yam balls filled with yummilicious char siu and i think they have siew pau, lou poh peng and many many others too.. also selling local specialties like chicken biscuits, heong peng etc etc... and juicy jambu air, guavas, mangoes..

After makan, i think boss oso tired adi cos he was practically speeding all the way, compared to the journey going KL... haha.. arrived Penang around 4:30pm, then crawl up the bed, pull blanket n napped or should i just say sleep, till 11pm :P muahahahahahaa.... hebat.. annual dinner was fun... i wonder if there is annual dinner next year... hmm... we'll see...
