New Year Project.. Part 1 (Almond Biscotti and Ngaku Chips)
I made almond biscotti from an online recipe… turned out okay but I personally prefer more almonds… and the texture, somehow not up to my expectation.. I wanted a smooth surfaced pieces.. but taste wise is still okay and very crispy! So I guess I need to go find other recipe.. in fact i turned out pretty much the same looking from the online recipe photo… so I guess nothing went wrong.. I just need a different recipe :D
And with another festive season coming soon (Chinese New Year), ngaku (arrow heads) are widely sold in supermarkets… I was at Tesco and Sunshine yesterday… although the price is not at the cheapest, but still can buy la… need to get something to do to fill my free time…
So I sat in front of the tv, peel off the skins, while my curious kaypo little boy looked on…
Slice directly into the hot oil, and transfer it to kitchen towel to cool and drain off excess oil…
I managed to make 4 big containers… in which is usually sold between MYR12.00 to MYR15.00. And to be more experimental, besides original flavoured chip, I made one container with onion powder+salt and another one with infused with jasmine tea leaves…
Another home cooked meal by dad…Part 1
Went back to SP(my hometown) the other day when Penang was having the water disruption and dad decided to cook that day cos his girls are back home :D
Sweet and sour fish…
I think it’s kailan… with pork and oyster sauce…
Steamed stingray, with lots of garlic, ginger, i think there’s fermented soy beans… haha… i saw this in one of his cook books too…
3 satisfying dishes….
And of course, 1 soup… this is like bean soup with lots of ginger, pork, pig’s tail.. for my sis cos she’s constantly having back pain…
Yummy-licious!
Happy New Year 2011 everyone!
A new year has come… May it be great last year and even better this year.. Hope that this new year brings the best of luck and happiness to everyone!
Porridge at home..
Went home the other day and dad cooked porridge with some fish dish… can’t remember what;s the name but i saw in one of his recipe book (that’s what I do when i get home usually… flip over dad’s cook books.. he have loads of them!!)… haha.. must be another experiment dish of his… :D
Fragrant plain porridge with 2 types of dishes… same fish..
I forgot the name of the fish, but it’s the type which is little and you can actually eat it whole witht he soft little tiny bones… this one was cooked with salted egg yolk… and it’s kinda flavourful and yummy..
This is a spicier version… with chilies and sesame seed… I choked a little when i first had it cos it was spicy!! But it was both nice… whatever dad cooks, it’s always nice :D
And yes, with that one bowl of porridge, I finished both dishes… hebat leh… :P
